Buddhism & Soccer

A Buddhist monk studied filmmaking under Bernardo Bertolucci and made a film in 1999 about young monks obsessed with football and raising money to buy a TV set, so that they can watch the finals of 98 World Cup. A feel-good lighthearted film. I think it has a witty tagline:

Buddhism is their philosophy. Soccer is their religion.

One of the first few films that I bought with my own pocket money, sometime during secondary school. VCD above. Could have been about 10 years ago. Talk about aging and impermanence. The VCD can't play as well as I would like it to be.

Number 60 (jump 5 places, missed out a few) is The Cup, by esteemed Bhutanese monk, Khyentse Norbu.
