I have a lot of opposition supporters coming up to tell me that they disagree with calling Lee Kuan Yew the Founding Father of modern Singapore.

I think Low Thia Kiang said it well on Wednesday's Zaobao, in respect to the hotly circulated photograph of WP's MPs taking a photo with Lee at the swearing-in ceremony.

“李资政是新加坡的开国元勋。虽然我反对他在执政期间的一些政策，而他的治国方式和我对好些政策的不满，包括关闭南洋大学，也促成了我投身反对党政治，但他对新加坡的整体贡献有目共睹，也令我尊敬。工人党的议员在他退出内阁之际要求与他合照，是基于对李资政的尊重。”
