The Majulah

August is the month to celebrate the nation's independence. DVDs of local films.

Forever Fever (1998) dir. Glen Goei

Love Story (2006) dir. Kelvin Tong

1942 (2005) dir. Kelvin Tong

Kelvin Tong is, for me, Singapore's most matured and prolific filmmaker. Time for somebody to give him an award-winning script please.

Autumn In March (2009) dir. Huang Yiliang

TV veteren Huang Yiliang's self-financed debut feature film. It was not pick up by any cinema exhibitors so Huang had to resort to selling DVDs through the Internet, door-to-door sales and at the boot of his car at the carpark of a shopping mall in the East. Huang Yiliang should take pride that he is probably Singapore's first DIY self-distributing filmmaker. And I reckon that I could have been his first customer.

My Magic (2008) dir. Eric Khoo

881 (2007) dir. Royston Tan

4:30 (2006) dir. Royston Tan

Auntie Lucy Slam Dunk (2009) dir. Gerald Lee

I worked as the lowest life-form / production assistant on the set of this film and even had a few screen time with two different calafare roles.

Singapore Shorts (2002)
